my practice
Welcome, I’m Chris Dawson, and I am delighted to share a bit about myself and my practice.
I’m also glad that you are considering couples counselling to help you and your partner move beyond the difficulties you face, and to build a healthy and loving relationship and life together.
I have been practicing as a Clinical Family Therapist, Couples Counsellor and Social Worker for over a 35 year period, from which I have gained much experience in counselling couples and families. My practice is enriched as much by my academic and professional learning and interests as it is by the couples and families I consult with.
I work collaboratively with couples and their families, drawing on a range of evidenced-based interventions while integrating leading couples and family therapy practice models to offer the most comprehensive relationship and mental health solutions to clients.
I believe that good couples therapy is not one-size-fits-all – it must be personalised to suit each person’s and couples unique constellation of lived experiences. I approach each counselling with a belief that each person and couple is generally doing the best they can in the circumstances they are in.
Your relationship is not a Tattslotto ticket where hopefully you buy the winning ticket… you have to put in!
Relationships demand that we evolve.
I have focused my professional career on supporting and helping couples solve complex relationship problems and dynamics including entrenched conflict, infidelities, mental health issues, addictions such as drugs, alcohol and sex addiction, family of origin issues, communication, plus the development of relationship skills, knowledge and abilities.
As I witness the positive transformations that couples counselling brings to people’s lives, it fuels my passion and commitment.
